Voyage to Valhalla is a 2-4 player, Norse Mythology-themed board game that gives players the chance to sail a Viking ship across the islands of Midgard and into 6 other realms of Norse myth. You start your journey in Helheim. After dying in a glorious battle, you must prove you are worthy of taking your place at the right hand of the All father. You must sail your ship, gather resources such as iron, wood, and gold to build your strength and defences enough to survive sea battles with other players, and one of the three mighty final bosses that guard the Bifrost Bridge. Once you defeat a guardian, you may then make your way to Asgard and dine with Odin in Valhalla.

  • (optional) laminating sheets and machine
  • Pencil and eraser
  • (if you laminate) whiteboard markers
  • Black die x 1
  • White die x 2

Building the Game:

  1. Locate the three different files in the download link
  2. The first pdf file is labelled VtV-cards-tokens-ships-A4’. Please print this pdf on A4 regular paper or cardstock at 100% scale and double sided on the long edge.
  3. The second pdf file is labelled VtV-board-A3’. Please print this pdf on A3 regular paper or cardstock at 100% scale and single sided.
  4. You will also find an A4 version of this pdf labelled VtV-board-A4’ (This is for those without an A3 printer). Please print this pdf on A4 regular paper or cardstock at 100% scale and single sided.
  5. To assemble the board, please cut out the images and line them up on the appropriate edge. Secure with glue or sticky tape.
  6. To assemble the tokens, please cut out all the circles using the outline to guide you.
  7. To assemble the cards, please use a ruler or a straight edge cutter to cut out the cards evenly.
  8. This step is optional, but to ensure the reusability of the cards and tokens, you may choose to laminate them to keep them clean and sturdy and use a whiteboard marker to count resources, shields, axes and Vikings.
  9. On the monster cards, please write a number from 22 to 27 on each of the shield sections of each card, ensuring no repeated numbers.
  10. Please then do the same for the axes section of the monster card.
  11. This way, each monster will have a different attack and defence score to the other. This can be kept the same or randomised for each new play though. (This is easier if the cards are laminated, but using a pencil and eraser is fine too)
  12. To assemble the ships please cut out the ships as neatly as you can around the hull and the coloured bases.
  13. For the sides of the ship, please follow the light grey dotted line that outlines where you should cut.
  14. Please do not separate the two sides of the ship
  15. After the ships are cut out, flow them in half along the top so they look the same from both sides.
  16. Please fold the coloured bases outwards so they form the two sides of the base
  17. Secure the two halves of the ship together with glue or double-sided tape.
  18. If your ships are symmetrical on both sides and can stand on their own, you have completed the construction correctly.
